The Law Enforcement Dashboard, a new shared servicesbusiness intelligence (BI) platform in Maryland, is providing public safety agencies with access to real-time criminal justice data.
The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, in conjunction with the Governor's Office of Crime Control & Prevention, developed the Oracle-based dashboard to allowmultiple agencies to access a single view of background data, which is amassed from more than 100 sources at 22 agencies.In the past, users juggled separate usernames and passwords for several databases, adding valuable time to the information-seeking process.
Today, one simple search provides users with background information ranging from gun permits to photographs and criminal history.
The information-sharing initiative, which would nothave been possible without collaboration, is providing agencies with critical intelligence needed to make important decisions in a timely manner, while also improving overall public safety in Maryland.
